Power Generation Authorities In Sikkim
The State Government has constituted Sikkim Power Development Corporation Limited (SPDCL) to speed up developing the small Hyde projects which to date has developed and commissioned 10 MW installed capacity. Energy & Power Department and SPDCL are engaged in harnessing the existing potential by developing hydro power projects below 25 MW capacities.
The projects with 25 MW capacities and above are being developed through Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and in Joint Venture (JV) mode. The Hydro Committee was constituted by the State Government in 2004 to examine the various aspects related to hydro power development and to recommend a road map for the fast track development of the hydro power potential with the aim to harness the immense hydro potential for the overall growth and sustainable development of the State.
